Golikova: The format of taking the Unified State Exam will change in Russia

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova, at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, said that the government is working to change the structure of the Unified State Exam (USE). The Kommersant newspaper reports this.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the process of restructuring and modernizing the Unified State Exam in natural sciences, including mathematics and physics, is currently underway. Natural-technical specialties are in demand on the market, Golikova emphasized. According to the deputy chairman, it is necessary to refine the mechanism of interaction between the school final exam and additional tests at universities. In this regard, the government is holding meetings with expert groups on changes in the structure of the Unified State Exam.

Let us recall that the development of the Unified State Exam was carried out by the former Minister of Education, President of RUDN University Vladimir Filippov, together with the founder of the National Research University Higher School of Economics Yaroslav Kuzminov in the early 2000s. The Unified State Exam became a mandatory test for schoolchildren in 2009. Last March, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said canceling the exam required a “very serious” discussion. It is advisable if there are constructive alternatives, the prime minister emphasized.

Since 2024, questions related to the military operation on the territory of Ukraine have been added to the Unified State Exam in History.
