Injured Tampa defender Mikhail Sergachev said he will return stronger
Russian defender of the Tampa Bay Lightning Mikhail Sergachev spoke on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned) about an injury received in a National Hockey League (NHL) match.
“Oh god, why me? Why now? After all the missed games, to come back and get injured again is unfair, it’s terrible. I’m trying to stay calm and positive, but it’s impossible,” the athlete wrote. Sergachev noted that it is very difficult for him at the moment, but he will come back stronger.
Sergachev suffered an injury to his left leg in a match against the New York Rangers and left the ice on a stretcher. For the Russian, this was the first game since December 20. Previously, the defender missed 17 matches of the regular season due to a lower body injury.
In total, this season Sergachev played in 34 matches, in which he scored 19 points (2 goals and 17 assists). He has been playing for Tampa Bay since 2017.
