RFU Secretary General Mitrofanov said that there are most likely no fixed games in Russian football
General Secretary of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Maxim Mitrofanov spoke about the presence of fixed matches in domestic professional leagues. His words are quoted by Sport Express.
According to Mitrofanov, there are most likely no such games. “Nevertheless, we are engaged and set the task of taking competitions of the first league and below under special control. RPL on the surface – close attention to it. But the lower the division, the less interest there is among a wide audience of fans – and the greater the risks of such phenomena,” he said.
The functionary added that the RFU constantly communicates with the relevant service of the Union of European Football Associations. “We are accumulating analytics on clubs – we have an understanding of who questions are asked more often,” the secretary general emphasized.
In April last year, it became known that the players of the Belgorod “Salut” and “SKA-Khabarovsk-2” played a fixed match as part of the second division championship of the Russian Championship. The meeting took place on October 20, 2022 and ended with a score of 3:1 in favor of the Belgorod team.
