Ukraine adopted a scandalous bill to tighten mobilization

The Parliament of Ukraine adopted in the first reading a scandalous bill to tighten mobilization in the country.

The document provides for the introduction of electronic summonses, the possibility of limiting the rights of draft evaders, including a ban on driving cars and blocking bank accounts. Also, men of military age from 18 to 60 years old will have to provide a military ID upon the first request of police officers and military registration and enlistment office employees. In addition, Ukrainians living abroad will be able to use consular services only if they have military registration documents.

As REN TV reports with reference to deputy Irina Gerashchenko, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny was not present at the hearing of the bill in the Verkhovna Rada; the document was presented by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.

Last Tuesday, February 6, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine extended martial law in the country for another 90 days.

Let us recall that the mobilization bill was registered in the Rada on January 30 and provoked criticism from many politicians, as well as public dissatisfaction.

In December 2023, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky reported that the military command had requested to draft another half a million people into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
