The biathlon track in Nove Mesto was closed two days before the start of the World Cup due to bad weather.
The organizers of the Biathlon World Championships in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic, have closed the track where the competition is to take place for training and testing. NRK reports this.
According to the source, the cause was bad weather, in particular, wind gusts reaching 90 kilometers per hour, as well as heavy rain. It is noted that the arena was damaged due to the hurricane, and there was a large amount of tree debris on the track. Organizers are discussing the possibility of postponing the races.
The World Championships are scheduled to take place in Nove Mesto from February 7 to 18. Heavy rain is also forecast for the start day of the tournament.
Russians do not participate in tournaments by decision of the International Biathlon Union (IBU). The order took effect in March 2022 and will remain in effect until further notice.
