This is a black season in French Ligue 1. One of the strongest leagues in the world, games in which the biggest stars charm do not cope with stadium hooligans. This season alone, there have been several notable incidents in the stands.
Already in the 1st round of the match between Montpellier and Olympique Marseille, the guest player Valentin Rongier was thrown in the face with a bottle. The player was dressed, and a moment later firecrackers landed on the pitch. The match was interrupted for 30 minutes.
Two weeks later there were further tensions in Nice’s match against Olympique de Marseille. The visiting footballer, Dimitri Payet, who had previously provoked the hosts, was hit in the back with a bottle. Payet threw her into the stands, which caused the hooligans to run onto the pitch and a fight began. The match has not been completed.
In September, there was a fight between hooligans during the match between RC Lens and OSC Lille. In November it was very hot again at the stadium where Olympique de Marseille came. In just 180 seconds, the game in Lyon was interrupted after Payet was hit with a bottle in the face.
Another row in the French stadium
On Friday, the next game was not completed by hooligan antics. It was the French Cup meeting between Paris FC and Olympique Lyon. During the break, there was a fight of hooligans, and flares flew between the sectors.
– It’s a drama for football. We saw things again that shouldn’t have happened. I don’t know exactly what happened yet, but I believe there is fault on both sides. Our fans cannot be responsible for everything, said Olympique President Jean-Michel Aulas.
Aulas defended his club because, according to preliminary information, it was hooligans from the visitors sector who started Friday’s brawls. It would be terrible news for the club from Ligue 1, because after the events in the match against Olympique de Marseille it is under censorship.
