Tutberidze reproached CAS for the decision to disqualify Valieva
Honored figure skating coach of Russia Eteri Tutberidze reproached the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for not establishing exactly how the prohibited substance entered the body of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. She wrote about this on her Instagram page (the social network is prohibited in the Russian Federation; belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned).
This is how the coach commented on the four-year disqualification of the Russian figure skater for doping.
“After two years, nothing has become clear, the origin of this drug has not been investigated, and a lot of questions remain. And only accusations are flying in our direction from different sides,” she wrote.
In addition, Tutberidze expressed doubts that someone defended Valieva at the CAS hearings, and called the court’s verdict the worst. She noted that she will continue to support the athlete.
Earlier, on January 29, CAS disqualified Valieva for four years for using the banned drug trimetazidine. The period of suspension starts on December 25, 2021. The athlete, along with her partners on the Russian national team, will be deprived of gold for winning the team tournament at the 2022 Olympics.
