Former Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney posted on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned) photo with the captain of the National Hockey League (NHL) Washington Capitals, Alexander Ovechkin.
“Nice to meet an NHL legend and good friend,” Rooney captioned a photo taken while relaxing on the beach in Dubai.
On January 2, Rooney was sacked as Birmingham head coach. In three months under his leadership, the team won two victories and suffered nine defeats in the Championship.
Ovechkin ranks second on the NHL’s all-time scoring list with 831 goals. Canadian Wayne Gretzky leads the ranking with 894 goals scored.
