SVR director Naryshkin accused the United States of trying to disrupt upcoming tournaments in Russia
Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) of the Russian Federation Sergei Naryshkin spoke about the isolation of Russia in elite sports. His words are quoted in a press release published on the organization’s website.
According to the information available to the service, the United States is concerned that international sports federations do not take into account their position on not allowing Russians to participate in tournaments. “In this situation, the US administration is intensifying efforts to disrupt upcoming sporting events in the Russian Federation,” Naryshkin noted.
According to him, the United States is trying to act through the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), in particular, through its president Witold Banka. “Banka zealously set about discrediting the competitions organized by Russia. Foreign athletes planning to take part in them are frightened by the “collapse of their career” in Olympic sports,” the head of the SVR emphasized.
In 2024, the Friendship Games will be held in Moscow and Yekaterinburg, and Kazan will host the Future Games and the BRICS Games.
