Out of seven Polish jumpers, five passed through the Friday qualifications. he took fifth place, Andrzej Stękała was 19th, and 33 more advanced to Saturday’s competition. Paweł Wąsek, 42. Jakub Wolny and 48.
On Saturday, only spectators will be Klemens Murańka i, who out of 67 classified jumpers took respectively 55th and 60th places.
“Dawid Kubacki looks absent”
After Friday’s jumps, neither Murańka nor Żyła did not stand in front of the Eurosport camera. On the other hand, Kubacki, who fortunately avoided the fall, said that he felt the jump was fine and that it was only from the coaches that he would find out what mistakes he made.
All this worries the fans. Only Stoch is doing really good from the entire Polish team.
– Kamil is such a professional that his mind is an example for the next few generations – emphasizes Jan Winkiel, the secretary general of the Polish Ski Association, who is satisfied with Stoch. But Winkiel also strongly emphasizes that we are sorely lacking in reasons to be happy.
– The results aren’t good. Especially the two world championship medalists – he says, referring, of course, to ¯ya and Kubacki. – David looks absent. It seems to me that it is David that you need to focus on. Piotrek regularly jumps well, and then comes the competition – says Winkiel. – The facilities that we have should guarantee, although the complete set of players is in the top 50, i.e. in the competition. I understand the slip-up once or twice, but not systematically – he adds.
The mold was there, but it froze
The PZN activist tries to diagnose the causes of the very poor form of Polish jumpers. We have been watching their disappointing performances for a month now.
– The worst thing was that at the end of the preparations she was in good shape, and then the low temperatures of Nizhny Tagil and Kuusamo froze her. You have to re-arrange these blocks – says Winkiel.
“Maybe it’s a highly controversial opinion”
– On the other hand, single jumps start to look good: and Paweł Wasek can score points systematically – he adds.
“Maybe this is a highly controversial opinion, but not much is missing,” Winkiel surprises. – The staff is also bloody bad luck: when Kamil fired and jumped on the podium [był trzeci w ostatnią sobotę w Klingenthal – red.], then he got sick the next day. If it does not go, it does not go – he notices.
The secretary of the PZN makes it clear that he does not believe in the miraculous transformation of Polish jumpers in, even though Gros-Titlis is historically the best hill for us in the world. On it, Poles jumped on the podium of the World Cup 20 times. Even on Wielka Krokiew it happened to our jumpers less often – 18 times.
– Maybe Christmas will reset some head. Everyone needs positive impulses mobilizing for further work – sums up Winkiel.
