The mother of figure skater Simonova who hit her head on the ice said that her daughter has a hematoma
Irina Simonova, the mother of 14-year-old Russian figure skater Maria Simonova, spoke about her daughter’s head falling on the ice at the All-Russian competition for the prizes of the President of the Moscow Figure Skating Federation (FFKM). Her words are quoted by TASS.
Simonova said that an ambulance took her daughter from the skating rink, and her partner and coach went to the hospital with them. She added that she trusts her daughter’s team. “I think it’s just a miracle, because the fall was terrible, and in the end there was a slight concussion, and that’s in question, as well as a hematoma,” the athlete’s mother emphasized.
On January 24, Simonova, performing in tandem with 17-year-old Martin Breslavsky, was hospitalized after completing a short program. Her partner was unable to hold her during support, causing Simonova to fall and hit her head on the ice.
The next day, General Director of the Moscow Figure Skating Federation Nina Moser said that Simonova’s condition was stable. She has no serious impairments.
