A 14-year-old Russian figure skater fell from a support and hit her head on the ice.

Figure skater Maria Simonova was hospitalized after a fall at a tournament in Moscow

Russian figure skater Maria Simonova, performing in a pair with Martin Breslavsky, was hospitalized after falling from a lift at a tournament in Moscow. The General Director of the Moscow Figure Skating Federation (FFKKM) Nina Moser reported this to RIA Novosti.

The incident occurred during the couple’s performance in the short program among juniors at the All-Russian competitions for the prizes of the President of the Moscow Figure Skating Federation. Breslavsky was unable to hold his partner during the lift, causing Simonova to fall and hit her head on the ice.

The pair completed the program with a score of 42.51. The 14-year-old figure skater was taken away by the arms and sent to the hospital. Her condition will be reported after the examination.

In November, Russian figure skater Varvara Medvedeva, performing in a pair with Pavel Astakhov, fell headfirst while performing a program at the Grand Prix stage in Samara. During the free skate, she fell from the lift, but continued to perform. It was noted that the skater received a cut to the head.
