Deputy Svishchev called Karpin’s wife’s move to Estonia a personal matter
The move of the wife of the head coach of Rostov and the Russian national football team Valery Karpin, Daria, to Estonia is a personal matter, said Dmitry Svishchev, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports. He shared his opinion in a conversation with Lenta.ru.
“She wants to live in Russia, she has the rights to do so. If he wants to live in Estonia, let him live in Estonia. At least at the North Pole. This is her personal matter. It seems to me that we have no right to interfere in this,” Svishchev responded.
Earlier, Daria Karpina said that she plans to move to Estonia in the summer. She noted that the family had always lived in a European country. Karpina explained the departure by saying that one of her daughters needed to get ready for school.
Karpin will lead the Russian national team in the summer of 2021. The agreement with the coach runs until August 2024. The specialist returned to Rostov in March 2022. He previously worked at the club from 2017 to 2021.
Valery Karpin is a native of the Estonian city of Narva and has Estonian citizenship.
