FHR General Director Kurbatov said that Russia needs 400 new skating rinks to catch up with the USA
General Director of the Russian Hockey Federation (RHF) Dmitry Kurbatov named the required number of new skating rinks to catch up with the United States in this indicator. His words are quoted by TASS.
“Based on the need to convert skating rinks per thousand people, it is necessary to build about 400 skating rinks in order to reach the level of supply as in the United States,” Kurbatov said. He also noted that in some Russian regions there is a high supply of skating rinks, but in others there is a serious shortage.
The functionary also recalled the program of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, within the framework of which 50 skating rinks were built. “We are in favor of the program being resumed,” added the FHR general director.
Olympic medalist in the Russian national team Pavel Bure called hockey the most popular sport in Russia. “A lot of children play hockey in Russia, and if so, then we will have stars in the future,” Bure said.
