Guardiola cancels press conference after inconclusive test for covid-19

This Friday, the coach of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, was forced to cancel the press conference before the departure of the Premier League after receiving an inconclusive test result for covid-19.

The Spaniard must wait for the result of a sequencing PCR test before knowing if he can lead the Citizens in their away game against Newcastle on Sunday at 11:00 am (GMT).

This is one of five Premier League matches that are still scheduled for this weekend, after a series of postponements due to outbreaks of covid-19 cases in the UK.

Guardiola’s last public appearance was on Wednesday, at Argentine striker Sergio Aguero’s farewell press conference in Barcelona.

Guardiola, 50, who suffered the loss of his mother to coronavirus last year, urged players and people to beware of the rise in cases.

“I’m worried, not because we’re going to cancel or interrupt the championship, but because in society the virus is here and people are suffering,” said the Catalan coach earlier this week.

“Some people, the team here, are [com o vírus] right now and we talk to players almost every day and ask them to be careful, stay safe, stay healthy, [usem] masks, make social distance”.
