Euskaraz irakurri: Athletic-Bartzelona eta Celta-Reala, Kopako final-laurdenetako kanporaketak
Athletic Club will face Barcelona and Real Sociedad against Celta de Vigo in the quarter finals of the Copa del Rey. That is what the draw that took place this Friday, January 19 at the Ciudad de Fútbol de Las Rozas (Madrid) brought about.
‘Mono’ Burgos, former Atlético de Madrid goalkeeper, was in charge of drawing the first ball of the draw and the name of Athletic Club came out. Immediately afterwards, the former Sevilla player Julién Escudé extracted the ball with the name of Barcelona. That way, Athletic and Barça will meet in San Mamés.
To decide the second round, Burgos first took out the ball that contained the name of Celta, while immediately afterwards, Escudé opened the ball that had the name of Real Sociedad. Therefore, the txuri-urdin team will play away from home; specifically, in Balaídos.
The other two qualifiers are the following: Mallorca-Girona and Atlético de Madrid-Sevilla. The matches will be played on January 24 and 25.
