Spanish rider Carlos Sainz Sr. won the Dakar at 61
Spanish racing driver Carlos Sainz Sr. won the overall classification among SUVs at the Dakar Rally. This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.
Based on the results of 12 stages, the Spaniard showed a result of 48 hours 15 minutes and 18 seconds. The second place was taken by the Belgian Guillaume de Mewius. He was 1 hour 20 minutes and 25 seconds behind the winner. The top three were completed by Frenchman Sebastien Loeb, who lost to Sainz by 1 hour 25 minutes and 12 seconds.
Sainz Sr. won the Dakar for the fourth time in the SUV category. The Spaniard won previous victories in 2010, 2018 and 2020.
Dakar 2024 took place from January 6 to 19. The Russian KamAZ-Master team, whose representatives have won the truck category 19 times, has not been participating in competitions since 2023 due to the demand of the International Automobile Federation to condemn the special operation in Ukraine.
