Italian coach Paolo Vanoli has signed a contract with Spartak Moscow. This was reported on the website of the Russian team.
The agreement with the 49-year-old specialist is calculated until the end of the 2022/2023 season with the option of extending for a year. The club noted the rich football past of the new coach of the red and white, as well as his coaching experience.
As the head coach of Spartak, the Italian replaced the Portuguese Ruy Vitoria. The latter helped Spartak to get into the playoffs of the Europa League, the team is in ninth place in the Russian championship. Vitoria left Spartak on 15 December. The contract with the specialist was terminated by mutual agreement of the parties.
When he was a footballer, Vanoli played for several Italian clubs and played two matches for the national team. As coach he led the Italian youth teams and was also assistant to Antonio Conte at Inter and Chelsea.
