Bonmatí and Messi triumph at The Best FIFA awards
Aitana Bonmatí and Leo Messi They were awarded this Monday night as the best players in the world at The Best FIFA awards, at a gala held at the Apollo in London.
The Barcelona player, who won this Monday in the votes for Jennifer Hermoso and Linda Caicedois the first person in history to win every prize in every tournament he has played. “Starting 2024 by collecting this award is an honor, but I owe it to the teams to which I have belonged. Without you I would not be here nor would I be the player I am today,” said Bonmatí when collecting the award. For Messi, it is the third time that he has won this award, surpassing Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland. None of the three attended the ceremony.
On the other hand, the award for best women’s football coach went to Sarina Wiegman, England coach; while Pep Guardiola was the one who won in the category of best men’s soccer coach. The goalkeepers Ederson Moraes and Mary Earpshave been chosen as the best goalkeeper of the year.
The votes for The Best are divided 25% between the national coaches, the national captains, a group of journalists and the votes of the fans.
