The NHL confirmed the participation of Russian Nichushkin in the player assistance program
The National Hockey League (NHL) made a statement on its website about the future of Russian Colorado Avalanche forward Valery Nichushkin.
The league confirmed that the striker will take part in the player assistance program. “Nichushkin will be unavailable for his club for an indefinite period. He will return to the team once program administrators clear him to compete on the ice,” the statement said.
Nichushkin’s participation in the program became known earlier on January 15. The NHL’s assistance program helps players with treatment for alcohol or drug addiction. In addition, hockey players can use it to cope with psychological problems.
Nichushkin played 40 matches in the NHL regular season this season. He scored 22 goals and 20 assists.
