Israeli Antalyaspor player Yehezkel: I didn’t do anything provocative
Israeli player of the Turkish club Antalyaspor Sagiv Yehezkel responded to accusations of inciting hatred. He is quoted by Ynet.
According to the athlete, he did not do anything provocative when he celebrated a goal scored against Trabzonspor (1:1) on January 14, pointing to a bandage with the inscription “100 days. 7.10″ with the image of the Star of David. “I have nothing to do with politics and have never taken any political action in Turkey since the beginning of the conflict in Gaza,” Yehezkel emphasized.
After the match, the Turkish club first suspended the player, and then unilaterally terminated the contract with him. Yehezkel had to testify to the police. He is expected to return to Israel on January 15.
On October 7, the Israel Defense Forces reported that Palestinian radicals from the Gaza Strip fired rockets into Israel. In response, the army launched a military operation in Gaza. Israel’s military-political cabinet announced the country’s transition to a state of war.
