The Ukrainian Embassy in Canada condemned boxer Beterbiev for supporting Kadyrov
The Ukrainian Embassy in Canada condemned Russian boxer Artur Beterbiev for supporting the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov. The organization’s statement is posted on the social network X.
The embassy criticized Beterbiev for glorifying Kadyrov in his speech after the victorious fight. “Another proof that there is no political neutrality of Russian athletes,” the diplomats concluded.
On January 14, Beterbiev defeated Briton Callum Smith. The fight took place in Quebec, Canada, and ended in the seventh round with a technical knockout. Beterbiev, who competes under the Canadian flag, has defended three light heavyweight titles: according to the World Boxing Council (WBC), the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and the International Boxing Federation (IBF).
In total, the 38-year-old Chechen boxer has 20 victories and not a single defeat.
