Euskaraz irakurri: Athletic eta Reala, prest San Mameseko euskal derbirako
Athletic Club and Real Sociedad will face each other in San Mamés Saturday January 13th at 6:30 p.m. in a basque derby which will serve both to open the second round (day 20) of LaLiga EA Sports.
The two teams arrive at the event in European positions and after having a good first round. The red and white team is fourth in the classification and is in the Champions League positions, with 38 points; while the txuri-urdin squad is sixth with 32 points.
Athletic arrives at the derby at a good time. In LaLiga he has nine days without losing and has won the last three matches it has played. Furthermore, the rojiblancos have achieved the pass to the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey after previously eliminating Rubí (1-2) and Eibar (0-3).
Real Sociedad also faces the derby with reasons for optimism, since The San Sebastián team has gone seven league games without knowing defeat, although in four of them there were draws. Besides, La Real has had a great group stage in the Champions League, moving to the round of 16 (will face PSG) as leader of group D and without losing a game. AND In the Copa del Rey, those led by Imanol Alguacil have reached the round of 16 after beating Andratx (0-1) and Buñol (0-1).
Therefore, a vibrant Basque derby is expected despite the significant losses of both teams. Athletic will not be able to count on Iñaki Williamscalled up by the Ghana team to compete in the Africa Cup, nor with the injured Dani García. Instead, Yeray will enter the call and Nico Williams, with physical discomfort at the beginning of the week, will be in the game.
As far as the Real is concerned, IManol Alguacil will not have Sadiq Umar at his disposalcalled up by Nigeria to compete in the Africa Cup, Hamari Traorécalled up by Mali to compete in the Africa Cup, and Take Kubo, called by Japan to play in the Asian Cup. Furthermore, the goalkeeper Álex Remiro will miss the clash against his former team due to suspension. The good news for the txuri-urdin team is that André Silva will be available for Imanol Alguacil.
