Former Russian figure skater Gubanova became third in the short program at the European Championships
Former Russian figure skater Anastasia Gubanova, representing Georgia, took third place in the short program at the 2024 European Championships in women’s singles. This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.
The athlete received 68.96 points for her performance. The leader after the short program is the representative of Belgium Luna Hendrix (74.66 points). Her compatriot Nina Pinzarron took second place (69.70).
Previously, Gubanova was recognized as the best athlete of Georgia based on the results of 2023. The 21-year-old figure skater is a native of Tolyatti. The Russian woman changed her sports citizenship in 2021.
On March 1, 2022, the International Skating Union (ISU) banned Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions under its auspices. Due to sanctions, skaters were unable to take part in the World and European Championships, as well as in other international tournaments.
