It finally became clear whether the female brain is different from the male one

Is it true that women’s brains are different from men’s? This question was answered by the doctor of the Sklifosovsky Research Institute, neurosurgeon Alexander Prirodov, writes “Doctor Peter”.

He emphasized that in the form in which the brain can be seen macroscopically, there are no significant differences. “Yes, in men it may be a little larger, but this is due to the fact that men are larger in size,” the doctor noted. He added that “it’s definitely true that women’s brains are more resistant to stress and to certain types of multitasking.”

At the same time, a man has approximately 11 billion neurons in his brain, a woman has less, 9 billion. However, the connections between these neurons in women are sometimes better developed, the doctor added.

He also said something interesting about the brain. In particular, it works even when a person is sleeping – the brain sorts out all the information that was received throughout the day, so sometimes interesting decisions come to a person in a dream. And the brain actually cannot feel pain, which is why doctors are able to perform operations while waking up. In addition, Prirodov called the statement that a person uses only 10-20% of his brain a myth. According to the doctor, sometimes the brain can work at 100%. “This has been proven by computed tomography and positron emission tomography studies. We can see during certain actions of a person which part of his brain is functioning,” the doctor explained.
