Russian chess player Valentina Gunina said that she suffers from lupus
Two-time world blitz champion Valentina Gunina spoke about life with a severe autoimmune disease – lupus. The words of the Russian chess player are quoted by Sport Express.
According to the athlete, she felt unwell six years ago. “It wasn’t until May 2023 that I was diagnosed. I fought for him for a long time, since all the tests were borderline. Lupus mimics various diseases,” said Gunina.
The chess player also described the symptoms of the disease. “It feels like you are constantly sick. I always want to go to bed. But you have to constantly force yourself to move, you can’t stagnate. After one day in bed it is very, very difficult to get up,” she noted.
On December 30, Gunina won the World Blitz Championship. She won her first title in 2012.
