The World Taekwondo Federation has expanded the admission of Russians in neutral status
The World Taekwondo Federation has expanded the admission of Russians and Belarusians to competitions in a neutral status. This is reported on the organization’s website.
Athletes were allowed to participate in tournaments not only under the auspices of the federation, but also those recognized by World Taekwondo. Previously, athletes could not compete in these competitions due to difficulties in verifying eligibility criteria. The permit applies only to those Russians who already have confirmed neutral status from World Taekwondo.
On March 3, World Taekwondo announced the return of Russians and Belarusians to international tournaments. In order to participate in competitions, athletes had to be tested to meet eligibility criteria.
Earlier, the International Olympic Committee announced the admission of Russians and Belarusians to the 2024 Olympic Games. They will be able to take part in the tournament as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support the special operation in Ukraine, as well as those who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus, will not perform in Paris.
