São Paulo’s top scorer at Brasileirão, Calleri analyzes his performance: “I’m satisfied”

“It touches Calleri, which is a goal”. The cheering of the São Paulo, inspired and created by the performance of the Argentine player in his first spell at Tricolor, remains completely current, even after five years of its initial season. The numbers prove the effectiveness of the athlete, who made his debut with the Tricolor shirt on September 19th.

In less than three months, five goals were scored in 16 matches played, a fact that made him finish 2021 as the team’s top scorer in the Brazilian Championship.

The shirt 30 played 870 minutes since returning to São Paulo. That is, they have an average of one goal every 174 minutes on the field (one in less than two complete games).

Calleri’s good performance, in fact, ended up being important to guarantee the permanence of São Paulo in the Serie A of Brasileirão. In the five games in which they scored the net, all in Morumbi, the team was not defeated. More than that, they gave the club 11 points (23% of the total won in the competition).

Against Santos and Ceará, he scored the goal of the 1-1 draws. In the derby against Corinthians, he scored the only goal of the match. In the duel with Sport, he opened the way for a 2-0 victory, while against Juventude, he was the second player to swing the net in the 3-1 victory.

“Unfortunately, we weren’t able to give the fans what we’d like. São Paulo is a giant club and needs to be fighting at the top of the table always. We have to fight for titles, because that’s what the club is used to doing. Individually I can say that I am satisfied. I hadn’t played for a long time and the calendar in Brazil is very tight, but I managed to dedicate myself to the fullest and helped my teammates. But I say again, I’m upset because we didn’t reach our goals and, next year, we will dedicate ourselves even more to giving joy to our passionate fans, who always support us”, he said.

Loaned by Deportivo Maldonado, from Uruguay, until the end of 2022, with an option to buy, Calleri has already played 47 games for São Paulo, adding the current ticket to the previous one. In all, he scored 21 goals and gave three assists. A great average of one goal every 2.2 games and a direct participation in every 1.95 game.
