The Slovak Hockey Federation denied information about its desire to play with Russia

The Slovak Hockey Federation denied information about the national team’s desire to play with Russia. This is reported on the organization’s website.

In Slovakia they said that they had not held any negotiations with the Russian Hockey Federation and do not plan to hold games with the Russian national team. “This is fictitious information, the origin of which we do not know and which shocked us. We strongly reject such speculation,” the statement said.

On January 10, Match TV reported that Slovakia wants to hold friendly matches against the Russian national team before the World Cup. It was noted that the team is awaiting approval of the initiative from the country’s President Zuzana Caputova.

Hockey teams from Russia and Belarus have been suspended from all international competitions since February 2022. According to the head of the International Hockey Federation, Luc Tardif, the admission of teams to tournaments depends entirely on the safety of the athletes and organizers.
