Fetisov said that Hasek “carries obscurantism” when addressing Russian hockey players
Two-time Olympic champion and State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Fetisov appreciated the appeal of two-time Stanley Cup winner Dominik Hasek to Russian hockey players. His words are quoted by Sport Express.
Fetisov responded to Hasek’s statement with the phrase “bears all kinds of obscurantism.” He noted that the former Czech athlete must return the money he earned while performing at Spartak Moscow. According to the deputy, the funds could be used to finance children’s hockey.
On January 9, Hasek addressed Russian hockey players and officials. The former athlete said that not a single domestic athlete can participate in international tournaments due to the events in Ukraine.
Hasek is known for playing in the National Hockey League for the Chicago Blackhawks, Buffalo Sabers, Detroit Red Wings and Ottawa Senators. He won the Stanley Cup twice and became an Olympic champion with the Czech national team. Moreover, in 2010 – the last year of his career – he defended the colors of Spartak.
