PSG accused of not paying taxes for Neymar transfer

Representatives of the French authorities helped PSG bypass paying taxes for Neymar

PSG was accused of not paying taxes for the transfer of Neymar in 2017. This was reported on the website of the radio station RMC Sport.

Representatives of the French authorities helped to circumvent tax laws. The investigation includes the former vice-president of the French National Assembly Huguet Renson, the current Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin, who served as Minister of Public Funds in 2017, and the head of the chancellery at that time Darmanin Jerome Fournel. It was Fournel who reportedly offered PSG options on how to avoid paying URSSAF, the French organization responsible for collecting social contributions. This helped PSG avoid paying between 67 and 224 million euros.

Neymar’s transfer from Barcelona to PSG in 2017 for 222 million euros was a record deal in football history. Formally, the transfer was paid for by Neymar’s representatives, and not by the French club, to help PSG avoid violating financial fair-play.

On January 4, it was reported that France had launched an investigation into the transfer of Brazilian Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.
