The RPL club reacted to the beating of a girl by a player with the phrase “it doesn’t happen to anyone”

Orenburg said they are not worried about the reputation of football player Thompson

Orenburg stated that they are not worried about the reputation of the team’s new football player, Chilean Jordi Thompson. The words of the sports director of the Russian Premier League (RPL) club Dmitry Andreev are quoted by Sport24.

“Thompson’s dark side? And who doesn’t have it? We heard about problems with the girl. You say that as if he took 20 girls. We are not worried about Orenburg’s reputation. Well, who doesn’t it happen to?” – Andreev responded to the scandal surrounding the player with this phrase.

According to the functionary, the club understood that they could afford to sign a contract with a football player who had problems with the law, which reduced his transfer cost. “When this situation happened to him, we helped him. Thompson is a good player with a lot of potential. We helped him. I hope he will help us,” Andreev noted.

Orenburg leased Thompson from the Chilean Colo-Colo with the right of subsequent purchase. In his homeland, the athlete was placed under house arrest due to charges of violence against a girl, contempt of court and attempted murder. The footballer was later released on bail of 100 million pesos (a little more than 100 thousand euros).
