Tarasova believed that Russian figure skating does not need new tournaments
Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova commented on the idea of creating a figure skating league in Russia. Sport24 reports this.
“We don’t need to create anything. No one will come to us under sanctions. I have a hard time imagining why new projects are needed. It’s better to do the old things well, which is what we do,” Tarasova said.
Olympic champion in speed skating and State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova made a proposal to create a new figure skating league in Russia. In her opinion, the tournament should be independent of international federations.
Earlier, Tarasova called figure skating the number one sport in Russia. “Is football the main sport in our country? Why on earth? Yes, it is shown most on television and, in principle, broadcast, because people love football, it is a global discipline. But we don’t have it in our country. That’s why people love what we don’t have,” the coach explained.
