France launched an investigation into corruption during the transfer of Neymar to PSG in 2017
In France, an investigation was launched into the transfer of the Brazilian Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2017. Liberation became aware of this.
According to the source, former PSG public relations director Jean-Marial Ribes, who could have influenced the former vice-president of the French Assembly Hugues Renson, is suspected of corruption. It is noted that Ribes asked for tax benefits to complete the deal for the football player.
Neymar has played for PSG since the summer of 2017. The transfer of the player from Barcelona cost the Parisian club a record 222 million euros. As part of the Parisians, the Brazilian played 173 matches in all tournaments, in which he scored 118 goals and gave 77 assists.
Since August 2023, 31-year-old Neymar has represented the Saudi Arabian Al-Hilal. He is currently recovering from an injury suffered in November – a torn meniscus and cruciate ligament.
