Manny Pacquiao said he will have a rematch with Floyd Mayweather in 2024
Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao announced that he plans to have a rematch with undefeated American Floyd Mayweather. The Daily Mail reports this.
“We should have organized the fight last year, sorry it didn’t happen. I hope to see you in Japan in 2024 for the big fight against Floyd,” Pacquiao said.
The former world boxing champion in eight weight categories held his last professional fight in August 2021, when after 12 rounds he lost by unanimous decision to the current World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight title holder Yordenis Ugas.
Mayweather last entered the professional ring in August 2017. Then he defeated Conor McGregor in a boxing match in the tenth round by technical knockout.
The first fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather took place in May 2015. The American boxer won by unanimous decision.
On December 31, McGregor announced that he would return to the Octagon. The Irishman plans to fight with American Michael Chandler on June 29, 2024 at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
