The vaccinated “Sputnik V” Russians named the conditions for visiting the 2022 World Cup in Qatar

Qatar intends to admit tourists vaccinated with the Russian Sputnik V vaccine to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Izvestia writes.

The Qatar Ministry of Health added the Russian drug to the list of conditionally approved for visiting on October 6. As noted in the department, the tourists vaccinated with “Sputnik V” flew to Qatar to watch the FIFA Arab Cup, which takes place from November 30 to December 18. The authorities called the event a “rehearsal” for the World Cup.

According to Fatma Al-Naimi, the executive director of communications of the Supreme Committee for the conduct and legacy of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the matches are being held in strict compliance with the measures against the coronavirus. “Whatever the situation, we expect the World Cup in Qatar to be the first mega-event to take place in the world amid a pandemic,” she said.

To be considered fully vaccinated, Russians who received two doses of Sputnik V would be forced to take one dose of Pfizer or Moderna. The only alternative would be a serological test for antibodies that appear after vaccination. It must be handed over no earlier than two weeks after the second dose of Sputnik V.

Earlier it was reported that in addition to “Sputnik V”, the country will recognize the Chinese drug Sinopharm. The final part of the World Cup should be held from November 21 to December 18, 2022 in Qatar.
