Leonid Slutsky has been appointed head coach of the Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua
Former coach of the Russian national team and CSKA Leonid Slutsky was appointed to the post of head coach of the Chinese Shanghai Shenhua. This was reported on the football club’s page on the Weibo social network.
Slutsky will head the club from January 1, 2024: in this position he will replace Wu Jingui. However, the duration of the coach’s contract with Shanghai Shenhua is not specified.
Slutsky’s last club was Rubin Kazan, where he worked from 2019 to 2022. He left the team of his own free will.
The coach is known for his work at Krylia Sovetov, Moscow, CSKA, as well as the English Hull City and the Dutch Vitesse. Slutsky achieved his greatest success as a coach of the army team. He led the club to victory in the Russian Championship three times. In addition, from 2015 to 2016, the specialist led the Russian national team.
