American forward of Omsk Avangard Reed Boucher spoke about the reaction of his compatriots to his play in Russia. His words are quoted by “Championship”.

The hockey player said that his family and friends fully supported his choice. He added that Americans are not interested in the current political situation in Russia.

Boucher is known for his performances for the National Hockey League clubs New Jersey Devils, Nashville Predators and Vancouver Canucks. As part of Avangard, he became the first hockey player from the United States to win the Gagarin Cup. In the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), in addition to the Omsk club, he also played for Yaroslavl Lokomotiv.

In December 2021, during a court hearing, Boucher admitted that at the age of 17 he raped a 12-year-old girl. The US court met the athlete halfway, allowing him to apply for a lesser charge. As a result, the athlete was sentenced to one year of suspended prison in the United States.
