Mitrofanov said that he reminds Karpin that he is the national team coach
General Secretary of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Maxim Mitrofanov, in an interview with Match TV, spoke about one constant reminder that the organization’s management has to give to the head coach of Rostov and the national team, Valery Karpin.
“Every time we ask Valery Georgievich to take into account that he is a mega-public person. When he gives interviews as the head coach of a club, we regularly ask you to remember that he is the head coach of the country’s national football team,” said Mitrofanov, emphasizing that this status imposes certain restrictions on Karpin.
The RFU Secretary General added that Karpin works seven days a week and gets very tired. “Given the relocations of Rostov, he lives on a bus, he is very worried, sincerely worried about all football,” Mitrofanov said.
On December 3, Karpin critically assessed the holding of the Rostov match against CSKA in heavy snow. “Ask the person who decided to play football. You have to be a moron to play in this weather,” he said. The RFU Control and Disciplinary Committee decided to disqualify Karpin for two matches, one of which was suspended.
