RFU President Dyukov announced a friendly match between the Russian and Serbian national teams
The President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Alexander Dyukov announced a friendly match between the country’s national team and Serbia. RIA Novosti reports this.
According to the functionary, the game should take place in March 2024 in Russia. “There is a contract with the Serbs, it has been signed. We have received approval from UEFA,” Dyukov said.
The national teams of Russia and Serbia met six times. The Russians won three victories, suffered one defeat and two matches were drawn. The last meeting took place in November 2020 within the UEFA Nations League. The Serbs won that match with a score of 5:0.
On February 28, 2022, FIFA and UEFA excluded Russian national teams and clubs from international tournaments. Teams do not compete in European competitions, and the Russian national team lost the opportunity to compete for access to the final part of the 2022 World Cup and does not participate in the Euro 2024 qualifications.
