Figure skater Nikita Volodin said that he changed his citizenship due to the lack of partners
Russian figure skater Nikita Volodin spoke about the reasons for changing his sports citizenship to German. His words are reported by Match TV.
“I really wanted to perform at a high level, but in Russia there were no partners for me. I had to make sacrifices, but little by little it’s paying off,” he explained. Volodin shared that at first there were difficulties due to the language barrier, but now understanding has been established.
The skater also said that he plans to get a German passport. “Now I have started studying German intensively, because I plan to go to the Olympics, and for this I need to pass a language exam and obtain citizenship,” he noted.
Volodin was paired with German Minerva Fabienne Hase in the summer of 2022. In the 2023/2024 season, the duo won the final of the international Grand Prix series. Volodin played for Russia with Alina Ustimkina, Amina Atakhanova, Taisiya Sobinina and Victoria Vasilyeva.
