“SE”: Kukuyan earned the most among the RPL judges, his income exceeded 2.2 million
In the first half of the 2023/2024 season, the referees of the Russian Premier League (RPL) earned a total of more than 38 million rubles. Sport Express (SE) learned about this.
Pavel Kukuyan received the most, his salary exceeded 2.2 million rubles. A little more than 100 thousand was lost to Sergei Karasev, who was in second place. The top three richest referees are rounded out by Alexey Sukhoi, whose earnings exceeded the 2 million mark by 57.5 thousand.
In May 2022, Karasev spoke about financial problems associated with the removal of Russian referees from working at international matches. “I’ll be honest: with the cancellation of international matches, the financial issue arose in full force. We are used to earning money in Europe and living on this money. Now the income is only domestic. And it became difficult,” Karasev said.
The RPL, in which 18 rounds were played, went on a winter break. The tournament table with 38 points is headed by Krasnodar, which is two points ahead of second-placed Zenit.
