Olympic champion Shishkina called on Russian athletes to go to the 2024 Olympic Games
Three-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Alla Shishkina assessed the feasibility of Russian athletes traveling to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Sport Express reports this.
She urged athletes who are allowed to compete to take part in them. “When I was an athlete, I naturally also thought that it didn’t matter whether we had a neutral status or not. I have always said that everyone knows what country we are from, they know us by sight,” said Shishkina.
She added that Russians will definitely not be allowed to compete in synchronized swimming and some other sports. “The IOC immediately suspended more than half of our athletes from the Olympic Games. Here, even you don’t decide whether you’re going or not,” Shishkina noted.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin praised the IOC’s decision to admit Russians to the 2024 Olympic Games. “I have always said that athletes should be given the opportunity to perform at major competitions, including the Olympic Games. Everyone knows that these are our athletes, under our flag or not,” he said.
On December 8, the IOC announced the admission of Russians and Belarusians to the Olympics in Paris. They will be able to take part in the tournament as Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN). According to the latest data, six Russians and five Belarusians have qualified for the tournament.
At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, as well as those who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus, including those belonging to the structures of CSKA and Dynamo, will not be allowed to participate in the Games. Representatives of team sports will also miss the tournament.
Shishkina is an Olympic champion in 2012, 2016 and 2021. She won all the medals in group competitions. In addition, she has 14 victories at world championships.
