Kosovo fan imprisoned in France refused to be deported to Russia
Russian Pavel Kosov, who has been in prison in France since 2018, cannot return to his homeland. This was reported on the Mash Telegram channel.
As the source learned, a football fan cannot exercise the right to deportation. The lawyer sent a request for the fan’s parole in 2022, but the European authorities refused to grant it. In France, the impossibility of Kosovo returning to Russia was explained by sanctions and the lack of direct flights between the countries.
On December 13, fans of the Serbian Red Star showed their support for Kosovo at the Champions League match against Manchester City (2:3). They hung a banner “Freedom for Pavel Kosovo” in the stands.
In 2020, a French court sentenced Kosovo to ten years in prison. Another Russian fan, Mikhail Ivkin, received three years in prison and was released in December 2020, since the fans had been in custody since 2018.
Kosov and Ivkin were detained due to riots in Marseille at Euro 2016. More than 200 people took part in the fight between Russian and English fans.
