Saint-Etienne announces coach Pascal Dupraz to avoid relegation

O Saint-Etienne, lanterna do French Championship, officially announced the arrival of coach Pascal Dupraz this Tuesday. The coach is recognized for having saved Toulouse in 2016.

Dupraz, 59, signed until the end of the season, according to the announcement made in the club’s official account on Twitter. The previous commander, Claude Puel, was fired earlier this month after a series of defeats.

Dupraz will take over on Wednesday, after a week-long break in which the team was led by interim Julien Sablé, and will be introduced to fans on the same day, the club said.

When he commanded Toulouse in 2016, he managed the feat of recovering from a ten-point deficit to leave the relegation zone in the final round. On the occasion, he gave a memorable lecture that stirred the players’ spirits.

The traditional French club is currently the last place in the championship with 12 points and has only two victories in 18 games played. The first team to get rid of the stick at the moment is Troyes, who have four points more than the Verts.

Saint-Etienne is the biggest winner in the history of the French Championship, with 10 titles, one more than Marseille Olympics e Paris Saint Germain.
