Ilya Averbukh announced the performance of Roman Kostomarov in his show
Director and director of ice shows Ilya Averbukh announced the performance of two-time Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov. Sport24 reports this.
“Of course, Kostomarov will participate in my anniversary show on December 17. It is important for me that he will be on the ice. I don’t want to speculate in what capacity,” said Averbukh. He was also happy about the fact that the whole country rallied around the skater.
On December 11, Kostomarov performed his first training session wearing prosthetics at the skating rink. In the footage, he performs “flashlights”, learns to accelerate and brake. “And I said that I would stand on the ice!” – noted the athlete.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on January 10 with pneumonia and influenza B. Due to prolonged connection to a blood oxygenation machine and a ventilator, his tissue began to die. Doctors amputated both feet of the skater, then the shins of both legs, the entire hand of his right hand and several fingers of his left. Later, he was fitted with prosthetic legs and right arm.
