Ukraine will later decide on participation in the 2024 Games after the admission of Russians
The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine responded to the admission of Russians to the 2024 Olympic Games. The words of the acting Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matvey Bedny are given on the organization’s Telegram channel.
Poor condemned the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and called it irresponsible. “Regarding Ukraine’s participation in the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games: we will make a decision later, after consulting with the Ukrainian sports community and the country’s top political leadership,” he said, thus not ruling out the possibility of a boycott of the tournament.
On December 8, the IOC announced the admission of Russians and Belarusians to the Olympics in Paris. They will be able to take part in the tournament as Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN). At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, or who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus will not be allowed to participate in the Games.
At the end of February 2022, most sports organizations suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus on the recommendation of the IOC.
