We have an unofficial position of Legia! This is just the beginning of the storm. The police are alleging a lie

. The Warsaw Headquarters informed that due to the appearance in the media of contradictory information about the events involving Legia hooligans, it engaged policemen from the department for combating the crime of hooligans in the case. It was they who showed up at the Legia headquarters, where they spent about an hour. – The proceedings are still ongoing. We are currently carrying out checks, including the players, club representatives and other people who can be considered witnesses of the incident – Sylwester Marczak, spokesman for the Warsaw Police Headquarters told us on Tuesday morning.

The police are responding to the attack on the players of Legia. “We are based on facts”

We also talked to Marczak on Monday. Then he did not confirm to us, and also denied that the police had been called by the Legia. – The policemen themselves observed the situation and intervened. When they arrived at the center in Książenice, the people dispersed and the intervention ended, said Marczak.

And he added: – At the moment we do not have any signal or notification that would confirm the violation of inviolability. And in the case of crimes or offenses, we must have such reports, documents or complaints to take action. It is necessary, for example, to be active on the part of potential victims, and at the moment I repeat: we do not have any materials or reports that there has been a violation of inviolability.

Legia issued a statement. Conflicting version with the police version

, in which she confirmed that after losing the match against Wisła Płock (0: 1), on the way back to Legia Training Center in Książenice, there was an incident involving an aggressively behaving group of people. “In line with previous arrangements and precautions taken, the coach with the footballers was returning to the training center in the escort of the police. Despite these safeguards, the vehicle was temporarily stopped, and then several people entered the bus and showed aggression towards the players” – we read in the statement.

And here comes a certain discrepancy, because this statement contradicts the police version. “There were no escorts,” said Marczak on Tuesday. – And it was not because it is possible only and only in specifically indicated situations – in the Legia coach there would have to be either the most important person in the country, people from leading state positions, or some representative of a foreign country in the delegation or representatives of other international organizations. And as far as I know, there was no such person on the Legia bus, so there is no option for us to lead any escort. Even if we are talking about the best club in the country – he explained.

What does Legia say? Already on Monday, the manager, Konrad Paśniewski, confirmed the information from the club’s statement in an interview and said that not only was he in contact with the police, but that they were also following the bus. We heard the same thing on Tuesday morning at the club. That it was not an extraordinary situation, because it often happens that the police car escorts Legia and not only Legia. That it was so during matches in the Europa League, when visiting teams, escorted by the police, were approaching the stadium.

Police deny escorting Legia to LTC on Sunday, but are reluctant to provide much information. – Until all activities are completed, we do not want to provide residual information, because it will certainly not help us in any way – says Marczak.

Four years ago, there was a similar incident

This is not the first time that Legia’s players have been beaten up by hooligans. A similar situation occurred four years ago. In October 2017, after a 0: 3 defeat with Lech in Poznań. Then the incident took place in the club car park in Warsaw, where a group of about 50 people was waiting for the coach with the players.

According to the report from Przegląd Sportowy, the situation was as follows: “The hooligans attacked the players, hitting them mainly in the back of the head, with a” leaf “in the face. So that they would feel humiliated, but not seriously injured. Even assistant coach Aleksandar Vuković was hit. [obecny trener]. The then first Legia coach Romeo Jozak, who stood aside and watched everything, came out unscathed.

Then, after a dozen or so hours, Legia issued a message that it would not tolerate “crossing borders”, and on the basis of “conclusions drawn, it would take all possible measures to ensure full safety for players and all club employees”. But she didn’t notify the police either. – We did not receive an official report from anyone – said Ewa Sitkiewicz from the press section of the Warsaw Police Headquarters at that time.
