Ukrainian boxer appreciated Lomachenko’s refusal to enter the ring with the country’s flag

Ukrainian boxer Ivan Redkach on his Facebook page reacted to the refusal of his compatriot Vasily Lomachenko to enter the ring with the country’s flag.

“The boxer fights alone, and even with a pot on his head, the victory is important, and not the flag with which he came out. This is the flag of his hometown, which may have given him more than the whole of Ukraine, ”the athlete believes. He added that instead of criticism, Lomachenko could receive gratitude and reward from his state, since he represents Ukraine on the world stage.

Lomachenko defeated Richard Commey by unanimous decision on December 12. After the victory, he entered the ring with the flag of his hometown Belgorod-Dnestrovsky, located in the Odessa region, and was criticized by the Ukrainians. Now Lomachenko has 15 victories, of which 10 by knockout, and two defeats.

Lomachenko is known for his pro-Russian views. So, he got into the base of the Ukrainian site “Peacemaker” due to filming in a documentary film about the Orthodox faith, friendship and sports “Hello, brother! Christ is risen”. The athlete also said that he wants to be friends with the Russians.
