33 pupils of a boarding school from the city of Kyzyl (Republic of Tuva) were hospitalized in the city infectious diseases hospital with a preliminary diagnosis of ARVI. This is reported by the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, adding that at the moment doctors are examining children.
SARS outbreaks this season were also registered in educational institutions in other regions. Thus, in the capital of the Republic of Kalmykia, Elista, at the end of November, more than 1,300 schoolchildren were diagnosed with symptoms of a viral infection with signs of ARVI, presumably an enterovirus, “which was blazing at that time in Moscow.” Doctors suggested that this “import” took place during the two-week school holidays extended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The rise in the incidence of ARVI among schoolchildren is observed in other cities of Russia, including St. Petersburg. It is because of ARVI that St. Petersburg schoolchildren can, at the request of their parents, go on winter holidays several days earlier than their peers in other cities of the Russian Federation – from December 25.
